Services
Nurse-Midwives combine the personal focus and professional care women deserve during this special time in their lives. In our midwifery service, women are encouraged to actively plan their care and their birth experience and to include their family whenever they choose. We delight in caring for women from a variety of cultures and interpretation services in most languages are available.
Neighborcare Health Nurse-Midwives have developed special expertise in supporting women who desire a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). In 2006, of all the women who had prior C-section deliveries nationwide, at most 8.5% had a successful VBAC. In 2008, for Neighborcare Health the rate for successful VBACs for these women was 41%. Neighborcare Health's primary (first-ever) C-section rate was 12% (2008) vs. a national rate of approximately 22% (2006).
Neighborcare Health Midwifery clients choose to deliver their babies at Group Health Cooperative's Family Beginnings Birth Center. Nicknamed the "best little birth center in Seattle," Family Beginnings offers patients personalized care in a beautiful, home-like environment.
