Neighborcare Celebrates Its Dedicated Volunteers During National Volunteer Appreciation Week

Tue, 2012-04-17

National Volunteer Appreciation Week is here! Neighborcare Health welcomes the chance to thank our wonderful volunteers who dedicate their time, talents and treasures to ensuring that everyone has access to health care. Various kinds of volunteers donate their services to Neighborcare: medical and dental providers, medical and dental support, clinic front desk support, community outreach, and interpreters.

When some of our volunteers were recently asked why they choose Neighborcare for volunteering, here's what Tamiko Miyano, board member and board-level Development Committee Chair, had to say:

"At times I forget I am a volunteer. Serving on the board is educational, engaging and incredibly fulfilling. And luckily the fundraising events at Neighborcare are so much fun. Can sampling great restaurants in Pike Place Market during the fall Feast at the Market event really be a form of volunteering? The other fall fundraiser, Pumpkin Push 5K Run to Care for Seattle's Homeless, reminds me of what it is to be a Seattleite, rain or shine let's go walk in an urban forest. I'd like to thank Neighborcare for finding value in my service. I feel so fortunate to be associated with the patient care that is being provided and so critical to our community."

Thanks so much to Tamiko and our other volunteers for taking care of our neighbors. To learn more about volunteering at Neighborcare, click here.
